Clanwilliam is a place where children and their families can come to talk about things that are bothering them. A place where children can
speak about things they are worried about or talk about changes they are getting used to in their lives.
What will happen when I get there?
You will meet a person called a Therapist who will talk to you about lots of different things like things you do with:
> your family
> your friends
> your school
Will I be on my own?
Usually children coming for the first time come with an adult. After that you might want to talk on your own with the therapist for a short time.
Will the questions be hard?
You do not need to worry about getting things wrong. If you do not understand what you are being asked just say so. It is not like a school test just a chat so you can say whatever you want or need to. You can just listen, draw or play if you do not want to talk.
What if I don’t want to go?
Sometimes it is a good idea to give it a try and then see what you think after one or two visits. It’s hard to make up your mind if you don’t know what it is like so it is usually a good idea to come along once to see. Most people feel a bit unsure trying new things.
If you have any questions please ask us we would be happy to answer them.
If you have any ideas at the end of your visit that you think would help other children coming to the Clanwilliam please tell us, we would like to know what you think!
